Trigonometric Ratios

Remember that the two sides of a right triangle which form the right angle are called the legs , and the third side (opposite the right angle) is called the hypotenuse . There are three basic trigonometric ratios: sine , cosine , and tangent . Sin= opposite/hypotenuse , Cos= adjacent/hypotenuse, and Tan= opposite/adjacent . The only time you will have a hypotenuse is when you have a right angle. The hypotenuse is the longest side of the triangle and is the opposite of the right angle.

One side is 8m, and that side is adjacent to angle B. The side we’re looking
for is opposite angle B. So we need to choose the trig ratio that has
opposite and adjacent. This of course is the tangent.

Pythagorean Theorem

On October 18th I learned how to do the Pythagorean Theorem and the formula is listed below.

the-pythagorean-formula

I learned that the Pythagorean Theorem is telling us the relationship between the sides of the right angle . A and B are going to be considered the legs and C will be considered hypotenuse . The Pythagorean Theorem states that if a right triangle has side lengths and , where is the hypotenuse then the sum of the squares of the two shorter lengths is equal to the square of the length of the hypotenuse. There are three different ways to solve by solving for A, B, and C. The Pythagorean Theorem states that in a right angle triangle the sum of the squares of the legs equals the square of the length of the hypotenuse.

Rotation Rules:
Counterclockwise (CCW)
● 90 (x,y) → (-y,x)
● 180 (x,y) → (-x,-y)
● 270 (x,y) → (y,-x)

90 – You switch the x and y coordinates and multiply your new x by -1 (Ex: ( 4,-8)–(8,4) )

180- Put a negative in front on your x and y ( Ex: (-3,3)– ( -3,3)  ( 6,9)–( -6,-9) ) * Multiply x and y by -1

270-The x and y switch places and the x becomes a negative (Ex: (7,4)–(4,-7) )* Multiply x by -1

Clockwise (CW)
● 90 (x,y) → (y,-x)
● 180 (x,y) → (-x,-y)
● 270 (x,y) → (-y,x)

90- You will have to switch the x and y and the x will become negative *Is the same as 270 degrees CCW

180- Add a negative in front of your x and y * The same as 180 degrees CCW

270- Swap your x and y and multiply it by -1 * This one is the same as 90 degrees CCW

The subject that I most enjoyed this 9 weeks is Distance and Midpoint . I found it very interesting and easy. Math has always been my favorite subject in school. The hardest subject for this 9 weeks was the angle relations . It was very confusing and when I get one part I would get confused on another part. But overall I think I won’t have no problem with math class.

Personal Eportfolio

20180801_144253 (4).jpgMy full name is Aszia Jimiya Upshaw and I’m 15 years old in the 10th grade. I’m from Queens New York and I came into this beautiful bright world @12:45 pm. I love to shop, watch movies, and read but I’m not a outdoor person I love staying inside. I don’t do any sports unless you count gymnastics as a sport lol . I have 5 siblings on my mom side but I had a baby brother died when he was 5 weeks and I was only a 7 years old so I didn’t really understand . I had another baby brother born on July 30 ,2018 ( That’s him in the picture above). My birthday is July 28,2003. I had a dog named Bruno but he ran away 2 weeks ago and we couldn’t find him and I really miss him. My personality is very different because I’m very weird and goofy. I’ve been bullied all my life since I was little and I still get bullied till this day. People that get bullied have a bad personality but I’m actually a very sweet hardworking person.

My Goals for Ms.Hoffer class is to always have that uplifting spirt and be ready to learn when she is ready to teach. I don’t think I will never have no problem with her because every time I talk to her I feel her vibe and I love it cause she seems so laid back. My biggest goal for the year is to pass with an outstanding grade. My goal for High School is to not try to fit in with people that don’t nothing to do with school but to pass at the top of my class. My goal for after high school is to go to college to get my degree so I can become a I.T cause in the 7th and 8th grade I was taking apart and putting back to together computers. Plus I’m very good at building software since I was in the 7th grade and the funny thing is nobody ever taught me how to do these things. I’m the type of person that if I but my mind to something I can do it myself.20180823_100226 (1).jpg

Midpoint

Image result for midpoint formula

The midpoint is the middle point of a line segment. A point on a line segment that divides it into two equal parts. The midpoint of a segment can be considered to be the average of its endpoints. This concept helps in remembering a formula for finding the midpoint of a segment given the coordinates of its endpoints. Recall that the average of two numbers is found by dividing their sum by two.

Image result for point line plane

Let me tell you about all the basics to theses main terms . A point is a location and has neither shape or size ( You most of the time see this on coordinate planes ). A line is made of point and has no thickness or width . There is exactly one line through any two points. A plane is a flat surface made up of points that extends infinity in all directions.
